The storyboard templates feature is designed to help teams on a Workflow or Business plan streamline their storyboard creation process and maintain consistency across multiple projects.
Teams can set up configurations for layout, structure, and design choices, allowing teammates to apply these settings instantly to new storyboards. This not only enhances efficiency but also ensures that every storyboard aligns with your organization's standards 👌
Team owners and those with Admin access will be able to create, edit and assign templates, while full & restricted teammates can use these templates when creating new storyboards.
Accessing templates
To access Templates, click the team dropdown option and from the menu, select Templates.
There are various pre-set templates to choose from.
Or if you'd prefer to create a new template of your own, select + New Template.
Setting up a template
Here’s how to configure your custom template:
1. Label and Name Placeholder: Start by giving your template a unique label to identify it, and set a name placeholder to help maintain consistent naming across projects.
2. Aspect Ratio: Select a suitable aspect ratio for your storyboard.
3. Default Frame Count: Set the default number of frames your storyboard should start with.
4. Sharing Settings: Enable or disable options for commenting and password protection to secure sensitive storyboards.
When certain settings are enabled, more settings will become available. For example, if comments are enabled, you'll then have the option to Allow comments in old versions.
5. Frame Settings: Decide on any custom text fields you want to appear for each frame.
Managing a template
Once created, templates will appear in the Templates section. Each template can be edited, duplicated or deleted.
Assigning a template to a project
Templates can be assigned to specific projects to help streamline the process of setting up a storyboard. This template will then become the default for all new storyboards created within that project.
Assign a template to a project by clicking the Set template option.
From the dropdown menu, choose the template that you’d like to apply.
Hit Save to set the template.
This template will then appear as the default for all storyboards created within this project.
Creating new storyboards with a template
When a template is assigned to the project
If a storyboard is created within a project that already has a template assigned, that template will automatically be applied to the storyboard. The template will appear in blue at the top of the project, making it clear which template is assigned.
In this case, there are three options. You can:
1. Click New Storyboard to create a storyboard with the pre-assigned template.
👆 Note: Storyboard templates are not available on AI created scripts. The AI Assistant must be disabled to use a template.
2. Remove the template completely by selecting Remove. This will revert to the standard storyboard creation form.
3. Choose a different template by selecting the template dropdown menu on the project.
When no template is assigned
If a storyboard doesn’t have a template assigned, you can continue without a template by choosing the aspect ratio first.
Or select Create using template to choose an existing template for the storyboard.
